Product Overview
Vivosit-M & Vivosit-M+ (Sitagliptin/metformin) tablet is a combination drug used to treat type 2 diabetes. It contains two different medications that work together to help control high blood sugar: sitagliptin and metformin.
The drugs belong to different classes:
- Sitagliptin: Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor
- Metformin: Biguanide
Compositions
How it works
The medications use two different mechanisms to help regulate blood sugar levels:
- Sitagliptin increases the levels of natural substances called incretins, which help control blood sugar by increasing insulin release after meals. It also signals the liver to decrease its production of sugar.
- Metformin works in several ways. It reduces the amount of glucose the liver produces, decreases the absorption of sugar from the intestines, and improves the body’s sensitivity to insulin.
