OVIMOZOL-D

Product Overview

OVIMOZOL-D  Rabeprazole sodium and domperidone is a combination medication used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions related to excess stomach acid. The combination works by reducing acid production and improving the movement of food through the digestive tract. It is available under various brand names and is taken orally as a capsule or tablet.

Mechanism of action

The medication combines two different classes of drugs to provide comprehensive relief:

Rabeprazole sodium: A proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that blocks the “gastric proton pump,” the enzyme responsible for producing stomach acid. This reduces the total amount of acid produced.

Domperidone: A prokinetic drug that increases the contractions of the stomach and intestine, helping food move more easily and quickly through the digestive system.

Compositions

Uses
This combination medicine is prescribed for the treatment, control, and prevention of several conditions:

  • Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Treats symptoms like heartburn and chest pain.
  • Gastric and duodenal ulcers: Promotes the healing of sores in the stomach and small intestine by lowering stomach acid levels.
  • Nausea and vomiting: Domperidone helps control nausea and vomiting by increasing stomach and intestinal movement.
  • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: Manages this condition, which causes the stomach to produce excessive amounts of acid.
  • Bloating and fullness: Improves overall gut motility to relieve a feeling of stomach fullness.
