Uses:
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Treats acid reflux, which can cause heartburn, coughing, and difficulty swallowing. The medication helps heal damage to the esophagus caused by stomach acid.
- Erosive Esophagitis: Heals and prevents the recurrence of acid-related erosion and damage to the lining of the esophagus.
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Manages rare conditions where the stomach produces excessive amounts of acid.
- Peptic Ulcers: Used in the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers.
- Preventing ulcers: Helps prevent ulcers caused by the long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
